Syd Bakal
ABOUT
Syd Bakal is a singer-songwriter, songleader, actor, musician, and community builder. They are a graduate of Yale University, where they managed the Yale Whiffenpoofs, mentored LGBTQ+ first-years, led Shabbat services, and performed in various original theatrical productions.
They are currently based in New York, leading Shabbat programming at Central Synagogue, performing at local singer-songwriter events, and acting regionally and locally.

Performs in live theater and tv/film. Credits include Final Boy (Jeffrey), Godspell (John the Baptist/Judas), BARE (Peter), The Addams Family (Lucas), Well (Lisa), American Idiot (Tunny), and Y2K: A Survivalist Musical (Riley).

JEWISH SONGLEADING
Leads worship and religious school programming at Central Synagogue and the High Holidays at Columbia University. Previous experiences includes songleading at Beth Tikvah Congregation, Yale Hillel Hebrew School, Yale Reform Chavurah, NFTY Chicago, and The Bronfman Fellowship.

MUSICAL COMPOSITION & PERFORMANCE
Writes original secular and Jewish music. Two released works of original music available on streaming platforms (Tiftach and In Love). Also has toured worldwide with the Yale Whiffenpoofs and Redhot & Blue A Cappella Group.
